At Still River Editions, our co-owners, Mark Savoia and Cathy Vanaria, continue to lead our company. Mark has an extensive background in black & white printing, starting in 1965, and color printing since 1981. Similarly, Cathy has been involved in black & white printing since 1979. Their profound expertise enables them to perceive subtle variations in contrast and color, essential for creating exceptional prints. Mark's commitment to his craft in printing photography and fine art is evident in the outstanding quality of his work.

With over 24 years of experience in fine art digital giclée printmaking and a total of 37 years in the traditional photographic and fine art printing industries, we have a rich history dating back to our establishment as Connecticut Photographics in 1987. This wealth of experience underpins our proficiency and ensures that your prints are produced with the utmost care and precision.

Mark Savoia

Mark Savoia is a fine-art photographer, master digital giclée printmaker, and co-owner and Vice-president of Still River Editions in Danbury, CT. In 2010, Savoia received an artist fellowship from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism for his black and white digital photography. Savoia is a graduate of the New England School of Photography, and exhibits his photography nationally. E-mail Mark

Catherine Vanaria

Catherine Vanaria, is a fine-art photographer, printer, and educator, and co-owner and President of Still River Editions. Vanaria is also a Professor of Photography at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT. She holds a BFA from Hartford Art School, an MA in Digital Photography from Savannah College of Arts and Design, and an MFA in Visual Arts from Art Institute of Boston. She received a CT Commission on Culture and Tourism fellowship in 2004. Vanaria's first photography monograph, The Boston Years: The Music Scene in Photographs 79-86, was published in 2008. Lys Guillorn

Lys Guillorn has been with Still River Editions for 26 years as a photographic printmaker, fine art imaging associate, and gallery director. Prior to that, they worked in publishing and print media, which formed the foundation for writing our press materials and blog. Guillorn is a graduate of Fairfield University, and studied photography and printing at The New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. They specialize in digital imaging, retouching, and customer service. Lys is also a multi-disciplinary artist, writer, and singer-songwriter. If you are looking for a little help with any of our services, Lys is patient and calm, and will gladly assist you.

Why are WE called Still River Editions?

The Still River flows behind our location in downtown Danbury, CT. The Still River has played an important role in the city’s famous hat industry and lore, and is now a symbol of both change and persistence. We are located on the spot where the L.H. Johnson & Company Hat Manufactory stood. Our current parking lot is filled with bricks from the original building’s foundation used as fill.
